Itinerary

Day 1

On arrival in Athens, you and your travelling companions will be met by English speaking driver and transferred to your central Athens hotel. This is a chance for you to freshen up. If you arrive early in the day we suggest you allow us to arrange a sightseeing tour with our driver to visit the important sites in Athens and Athens coastline, including the Parthenon, the Olympic Stadium and Cape Sounion. In the evening, find your dinner in any one of Athens international standard restaurants before returning to your hotel to ready yourself for the busy day ahead.

Day 2

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and our driver will collect you to start the tour. Our English Speaking driver has a wealth of knowledge for all the sites you will visit over the coming days. First, we first drive the short distance to the Corinth Canal to the East of Athens where you will witness the modern engineering marvel that joins the Aegean with the Adriatic Seas. We will also visit the Corinth Archaeological site and Museum. Next, we travel south to Epidaurus, home to the amphitheatre famous for its remarkable acoustics and then to the ancient site of Mycenae to visit the ruins of ancient Myceneum, home to Agamemnon. This is an incredible afternoon of witnessing these amazing ancient sites including Agamemnon's Palace and the Lions Gate. Once the visit to Mycenae concludes we will travel to Napflion, once a major Byzantine port and now a beautiful tourist town. You may have enough time to visit either Palamidi Fortress or the Bourtzi Castle before dinner. Nafplion is a wonderful town to sit by the sea and watch the sunset. This will be your first evening in a more traditional Greece.

Day 3

After breakfast and checkout, you will be taken down to the bottom of the Peloponnese to through the town of Tripoli to Sparta, home of the ancient warriors, the Spartans and a day full of travelling through the natural beauty of the South Peloponnese. There are a number of towns and archaeological sites that you can visit in and around Sparta as well as a large number of nature walks and places of interest. Speak to your driver about your options for the day. On arrival in Sparta you will check in to your hotel for the night and enjoy a meal in a local restaurant. Ask your driver for recommendations.

Day 4

After breakfast and checkout, the tour continues to the north to the town of Olympia, home of the Ancient Olympics which were held here in 776 BC. On arrival in this famous town we will visit the archaeological site associated with the Olympics and the museum of Olympia, home to the modern Olympic Games and where the flame that glows at each Olympics is lit. This is a great opportunity to appreciate the archaeological site where athletes from across the land would gather. After this tour you will check into your hotel and the evening is yours to enjoy the atmosphere of this wonderful town.

Day 5

There is quite a bit of driving on this day. After breakfast we check out of our Olympia hotel and drive North via the port town of Patras to Rion. We then cross the channel to Antirion on the Greek Mainland on the new suspension bridge, considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe. This bridge is one of the engineering marvels of Greece. We will drive through the town of Nafpaktos and then continue to Delphi where we will check into our hotel, have dinner and spend the night. Delphi has quite a bit to do in the evening with a large number of shops to visit, as well as a large number of restaurants and bars. This good opportunity to see a snapshot of Modern Greek life out of the cities.

Day 6

After breakfast and check out, we make the short drive to the archaeological site of Delphi, home to the oracle and the most sacred of sites in Greece. Delphi is an amazing place, full of history and mythology. You will be guided around the site, and our guide will amaze you with stories of this mysterious and atmospheric place. The well preserved ruins in the backdrop of the mountains around Mount Parnassos are extraordinary. Along with a tour of the site you will visit the Delphi Museum with its fascinating treasures. After your time at Delphi has finishes, your driver will take you the two hours back to Athens where you will be taken to your hotel for your final evening in Greece. The evening is yours to explore the Plaka and Central Athens at the base of the Acropolis, or if you choose, relax before your return home.

Day 7

After breakfast you will check out of the hotel and our driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight home, ending an eventful holiday in this colourful and ancient land.

Great trip in Athens, Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini

We did a custom trip with Antelope that included private tours of Athens, Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini for my wife and I. We had a great time. Anthony was a fantastic planner and set is up in hotels we loved, in perfect locations. He had local representatives on each of the islands, who met us and made sure we didn't have any trouble. The tours he set up for us were catered to our interests and had excellent guides. Thanks, Anthony!
