Day 1

Journey through Levadia and Arachova, renowned for its vibrant, multicolored carpets, before reaching the enchanting destination of Delphi.

Nestled at the base of Mount Parnassos, between the imposing Phaedriades rocks, lies the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, home to the renowned Oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi held a revered status as the center of the world, with mythological significance as the meeting point of two eagles dispatched by Zeus in their quest for the world's navel. This sanctuary, situated in a breathtaking landscape, served as a cultural and religious hub, symbolizing unity for the Hellenic world. It was also the venue for the Pythian Games, the second-most important games in Greece after the Olympics, held every four years.

During the golden era between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, the Delphic Oracle, conveyed by the priestess Pythia and interpreted by Apollo's priests, reached its zenith. Cities, rulers, and common individuals sought guidance from the oracle, expressing their gratitude through grand offerings and spreading its renown globally. The oracle, believed to have existed since time immemorial, successfully predicted events tied to Deukalion's cataclysm, the Argonauts' expedition, and the Trojan War.

Explore the archaeological site and Museum, home to a wealth of treasures. Notably, the museum houses the unparalleled bronze statue of the Charioteer, a gift from Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, in 478 B.C. The statue commemorates his victory in the Pythian Games' chariot race and stands as an exemplary masterpiece in the distinctive "severe" Attic style, attributed to a prominent artist of the time.

Perfect trip to Skopelos and Athens with walking tour of Athens

Anastasia at Antelope Travel organized an amazing trip that for us - we postponed it over 20 years and the trip planned with Anastasia lived up to the expectations.

We knew we were going to fly from the UK to Skiathos as we wanted to spend time on Skopelos. While I usually do all of our travel planning personally, we decided to give a travel agency a try at the recommendation of a friend. Everything was so simple and went so smoothly, with transportation arranged from plane and ferry to hotels, a car arranged while on Skopelos brought to the hotel, transportation from the ferry at Agios Konstantinos to Athens by Iannis, who was both a very friendly driver, and very knowledgeable, with recommendations and history information as he drove.

While in Athens we took the 5 hour walking tour of the Acropolis and museum led by Maria. She knew a few days in advance we needed to leave an hour earlier than planned and made sure we were in line just as the Acropolis opened, saving us hours of wait time. Without her knowledge both the site and the museum could have been overwhelming, but instead we felt like we understood both the ancient nature of the site, and the current archeological situation. She was outstanding.

The entire trip went without a hitch, and was simple so all we had to do was relax on the island and enjoy the sites in Athens. The hotels were lovely with great breakfasts. I would book with Antelope again the next time we go to Greece, they made it all so easy.

Fabulous trip and attention to detail!

Anthony Alagiah with Antelope Travel planned the perfect family trip for us in June 2023. Anthony was a pleasure to work with, he communicated in detail and was very responsive to any questions I had and even stayed in touch while we were in Greece.
This was our first visit to Greece and he patiently guided me during the planning process and planned perfect itineraries for Athens, the islands and the mainland so we could experience a variety of different parts of Greece. Keeping three teenage boys engaged and interested isn't always easy but all of Anthony's tours, tour guides and activities worked perfectly for all of us!
We had many air, land and sea transfers and Anthony's planning and his partners ensured that everything went smoothly for us.
We were referred to Anthony from friends and I highly recommend him! I have now referred other friends to him, as thanks to his expertise, we had a fantastic family trip to Greece.
