Day 1 Imbros Gorge & Sfakia
Shorter yet equally beautiful as the renowned Samaria Gorge, Imbros Gorge is the ideal choice for travelers who wish to experience a Cretan gorge and finish at the scenic south coast through a less strenuous hike. The gorge is approximately 8 km long, gently descending, and not particularly difficult, making it accessible to a wide range of visitors.
The trail crosses a wonderfully varied landscape, from its lush beginning near the fertile Askyfou plain to its dramatic rocky ending close to the arid southern coast. Along the way, hikers will encounter several spectacular sections, especially the impressively narrow passages, while many parts of the route offer welcome shade.
Suitable for anyone in good physical condition and with no prior hiking experience, Imbros Gorge is also a good option for families, provided children are comfortable with a roughly 3-hour walk on a mainly stony path. Solid walking shoes are essential to fully enjoy the experience.
After completing the hike, we continue by vehicle to a beautiful beach where you can relax and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea. The day concludes with a late lunch at the coastal village of Sfakia before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.
