Day 1 The Samaria Gorge at its best
Experience a guided 16 km hike through the Samaria Gorge, the longest and most impressive limestone gorge in Europe. This natural wonder is one of Crete’s many spectacular gorges, stretching from the White Mountains down to the Libyan Sea.
We depart early in the morning from Chania, passing through several picturesque villages before reaching the Omalos plateau. The hike lasts approximately 6 hours, taking you through breathtaking, ever-changing landscapes down to Agia Roumeli, a charming village on the south coast accessible only by boat.
On this private tour, you’ll enjoy a slower pace with the guidance of a specialized hiking expert. At the base of the gorge, you can take a refreshing swim and savor a traditional rustic lunch at a local taverna. Afterward, a ferry ride takes you to the nearby port of Sfakia, where you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Chania late in the evening.
