Itinerary

Day 1 Rhodes: Half Day Medieval Walking tour

Our Medieval walking tour begins by introducing you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Rhodes Town. Secured behind a deep moat within a double ring of lofty walls, the Old Town is like a medieval time capsule, transporting visitors back to the era of the Knights of St. John.

Our passionate, knowledgeable guide will lead you on a tour through the atmospheric, winding streets, pointing out medieval monuments and describing how the battles and sieges faced by the Hospitaller Knights shaped the town.

The walking tour concludes at the Palace of the Grand Masters, a 14th century fortified castle that was restored in the 1930s. Today it’s a museum housing medieval furniture, elaborate mosaics, and archaeological exhibits from across the island. Once you’ve finished exploring the Palace, you’ll wander down the famous Street of the Knights, the best-preserved medieval street in Europe.

You will then walk down the Street of the Knights, where you will see the many inns once occupied by the crusaders. At the end of the street, you will arrive at the Archaeological Museum, formerly the Knights Hospital, the museum was built in 1440 A.D., and is the most well preserved building in the Old City. The visit to the museum is optional.
