Samos is located very close to the Turkish coast and because of this, there is a very different feel to the island. After breakfast, you have the choice to do as you please, whether that entails taking your hire care and finding a deserted beach or visiting the quaint towns in the centre of the island. The best beaches are found in the island's south. This holiday is about doing what you please. Samos is also the birthplace of Pythagoras, the father of mathematics, and the town of the Pythagoria in the island's south is well worth a visit. This town is also the location of the Evpalinos Tunnel, and ancient tunnel over a kilometre long. Pythagoria is more equipped for tourists than Vathy, but being a smaller town it is quainter. Return to your hotel in the evening after discovering a local taverna for a glass of local wine and a meal.

Day 5

Your second full day in Samos can take you wherever you wish to go. The hills in the centre of the island are home to some wonderful wineries, and the island is known for its muscats. You may wish to wander the town of Vathy, escaping the crowds of the port and heading to the hills around the town, where you can find a myriad of old mansions in various states of repair. Samos was also home to one of the Ancient Wonders of the World, the Sanctuary of Hera. Today the archaeological site of Hereon is worth a visit. How you spend your time is up to your - there are always the island's wonderful beaches or the hills to explore and spend your time. Spending time by the pool is also a very valid option.

For those wanting something a bit different, there is a monastery in the centre of the island - a quaint set of buildings hosting a macabre site. The monastery was the scene of a massacre in the late 1800s and the skulls of the martyred monks are on display. There is also the option to stay near to the hotel pool, relaxing and enjoying the sunshine and hospitality. In the evening, venture into Chios Town and enjoy the vibrant night life.

Loved my experience with Antelope!

Anthony at Antelope Travel planned an AMAZING trip for my family. We spent two days in Athens and explored the historical sites there. Our tour guide for the Parthenon, Natassa, was awesome. She was so knowledgable about ancient Greece and we loved having her guide us through the ruins and the museum.
Next we went to Mykonos and had another amazing guide there named Jenny. She was funny and told us about the culture and history of the island. The hotel we stayed at was awesome and my two daughters loved the pool there. We took a yacht to a private island then toured Delos and really had a lot of family fun there. We also loved shopping in Chora and found that the island was easy to get around on the bus.
Our next stop was the breath taking island of Santorini where we stayed in a pituresque villa with our own swimming pool. The final day we took a catamaran cruise around the island, swam, snorkled and ended the trip with an amazing sunset.
Anthony thought of everything and planned our trip so well. I would recommend Antelope Travel to anyone wanting to explore the beauty that Greece has to offer.

Trip of a Lifetime!

We had a wonderful family trip to Athens and Santorini. We could not have done it without the expertise of our travel agent Anthony Alagiah and the fantastic tour guides and drivers arranged through Anthony. He spoke to us months before our trip to find out exactly what we wanted. He sent us spot on suggesstions for tours and hotels. In Athens we were met by a great driver, Yianis, who was our driver for our time in Athens. He was extremely friendly and welcoming and we felt confortable travelling through Athens with him behind the wheel! The tours we did included the Walking Food Tour in Athens (highly recommend), 3 island cruise, private tours of Delphi, Cape Sounion and the Acroplis. Our hotel in Athens, the Athens Lodge, was centrally located, very clean, had a great breakfast and very friendly staff! In Santorini we were met by a welcoming tour guide and driver and our hotel (Hotel Santorini) was stunning! We did two tours in Santorini, the catamaran sunset cruise and the 5 hour hike through Santorini. The catamaran sunset cruise had delicious food, great saling and a brethtaking sunset! The hike was probably the best tour we took as we saw so much of Santorini, with lots of breaks for water and snacks. We couldn't have had a more remarkable, perfect family vacation! We highly recommend Anthony and Antelope Travel because their service made our vacation the trip of a lifetime!
