Tour to Medieval Rhodes, Ialyssos and amazing views from the top.
Approximate Duration: 4 hours
Church of our Lady Departing from the pier, you will be driven in a van with a small group along the west coast of the island to reach Mount Filerimos with its wonderful view of the city of Rhodes. On the top of this hill stood one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes, the city of Lalyssos. Here you can admire the Church of our Lady, built by the Knights of St. John in the 15th century, as well as that of St. George which has wall paintings from the 14th and 15th centuries. After driving back to Rhodes town you'll continue your tour on foot, following your guide through the narrow, cobblestone streets. You'll visit the most imposing building of Medieval Rhodes, the Palace of the Grand Masters which dominates the end of the Street of the Knights. Built in the 14th century, it astonishes you with its unique architecture and an unrivalled patina of time. Walking down the Street of the Knights and passing through numerous, colorful shops, you'll visit the Archaeological Museum which is housed in the 15th century Hospital of the Knights. At the end of the walking tour, you may choose to browse on your own a little longer and return to your ship on foot, or join the van and return directly to your ship. It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk to your ship.
